Malkimir was certain that some humans appreciated the world about as much as she did; which is surprising to even hear from the dark dragon itself, so then why go through so much trouble growing all this greenery and flowers if they were simply going to destroy it later? Steps echoed through the near-silent garden, nature acting as its ambience as Malkimir made her way toward the lotus ponds, her favorite region accessible to the public here in the botanical gardens. She wore a long-sleeved mandarin gown, the tight silk a deep red that contrasted against her ivory hair and blended to her blood-colored eyes, there was a gleam of yellow as golden textile embroidery spiraled like lily-coves and cherry blossoms up and throughout the dress. She wore something of thin clogs black with wooden bottoms, making a distinct clitter-clatter as she approached a bench overlooking the Lotus Garden.
Sitting down, hands resting on her lap, the dragon peered out into the world, memories bowling up in her mind like some kind of sweet soup. There were times when she was young, flying across the skies, that she would stare down at this world to only be amazed at its beauty, its magnificence. This little garden was proof of that, that there was still some remnant of her past in this world, as small as it was. But even now, she knew the trash that she can only justify as mortals was infecting this beautiful place with their destructive nature. True, she’s burned down a village or two, caused a forest fire there and then. But in essence, Malkimir has always considered herself entwined with nature, as dragons may have been beast from Gehenna, but they truly were part of this world and its nature. The woman became visible upset, lowering her head back as she stared with a troubled gaze at the world before her.
She wanted a garden like this…
A place she could hide in, where she could maybe get away from all these beings. If it wasn’t for her lust for blood and power, Malk would hide away in solace from the world, and its obvious flaws. This place lacked perfection and what little bits of rightness she found, was hidden amongst disorder and chaos. She felt her temper began to flare some as she recalled whose fault all of this was, not simply her own but everything around her. Malk took a deep breath, taking hold of the reigns and continued to sit here, staring off into the distance. Peace and quiet. That’s all she wanted now, nothing more.

Which would feel great in any normal circumstance, of course, but this peace seemed a little—off—was that the word? Lillian had a knack for predicting when a calm was just an inhale before chaos. She knew it well, felt it often. It always arrived on silence, trying to trick her into thinking everything was okay. And just knowing that the quiet around her was that very gasp before the choke, put her on edge. Something was going to happen. As for what, she did not know. Was it going to be good? Bad? She didn’t know that either. She never did.
The school grounds felt far too claustrophobic and tense for her, given the anxiety she was going through. And though it took some persuasion and promises to a curfew that only allowed so many hours, she managed to convince her superiors to let her and Anubis go take a walk. She needed to clear her head. And thank the gods for those that were able to understand that and let her go out for a while.
Anubis, surprisingly, was keeping himself quiet, yet very close to her side. He never strayed very far, his ears always tilted forward while he kept his nose high for danger. Lillian briefly wondered if maybe her anxiousness is what made Anubis so alert. She hadn’t mentioned any of the unease boiling in her subconscious. Funny, how much just an atmospheric change can affect someone. But maybe it was just a familiar and tamer thing. Just another part of the bound they shared.
Whatever the reason for Anubis’ silent understanding, she was grateful. The walk through the gardens was much more pleasant than it had been on previous occasions. Civilians only saw Anubis as a scruffy mutt and not as the large hell hound he really is. Which is a good thing. It made walking through crowds of normal people easier. The last thing she wanted was to ruin a good walk through the beautiful garden by scattering people with screams because of Anubis’ appearance.
Furrowing her brow in a frown, Lillian caught herself and realized she had stopped walking minutes ago, lost in her own thoughts. And she could see why. Her path was blocked by a wide lotus pond, lush and alive. Anubis was busy lapping up some of the water from the pond to quench his thirst while she stood idly staring at her own reflection in the pool. Her pale features stared back, the blue around her eyes still the brightest part of her complexion. How many hours did she have left? She should be keeping track.
A low growl interrupted her stand off with her own reflection, and Lillian moved her gaze to Anubis’ suddenly stiff form. He stood at the pond’s edge, the fur along his spine on end, ears pointed forward and eyes locked on a woman sitting across the way. She knew this stance of the hell hound. And she dare not move until Anubis determined that there was no threat to be had.
Was this the point where peace is broken?[/style] |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width:275px; padding:5px; border-left: 10px solid E6E6E6;][atrb=valign,middle][style= height:310px; overflow:auto; padding-right:7px;] The serenity of this beautiful garden had Malkimir in a trance of lovely thoughts, soon-to-grasp wishes and more. Her eyes sealed shut as she finally relaxed and woe to anything that would disturb her in her moment of peace. And of the luscious smells of lotus flowers and nature, something suddenly entered her nose. It was not of this scenery, in fact, it was of Gehenna. Her head was lying back now, but her brow did rise. The scent, there was something else too, a mortal. She decided to ignore it for now, as the winds seemed to point her far-far away from her current position, well, so she thought.
It wasn’t even a moment later that she heard something, footsteps maybe; and her eyes slightly opened. She lifted her head, now hearing an audible growl from something in the distance. A human and her pet, on the far side of the pound, the group now staring each other down as Malkimir’s undaunted expression hovered over the women’s reflection, before settling on her entirely. Beside her was some form of canine, but Malk could smell it. This was no ordinary mutt; it was a hell hound, mostly stuck in the form of a dog. It required some caution, though the dog wasn’t exactly the worry here.
It was the woman…
Why would a demon-hound be following this girl? There could only be so many reasons. But one of those reasons seemed more plausible than the other. This girl could be a tamer, which lead to fact of her being an Exorcist. Malkimir was still as stone. Did this woman know now that she was staring at a demon, a dragon for that matter? Malkimir’s expression changed quickly, a gentle smile, which she’s perfected over the years of her living, made up her face. “Greetings,” her voice came out soft, ethereal almost, “That beautiful canine at your side, he seems like such a loyal and dependable companion.”
Her words were chosen carefully, but it was for a reason. She wasn’t here to start a fight, not in this Garden, so maybe, just maybe the two could have a friendly conversation about the situation at hand. “What brings you to this part of the garden, is it the lotus plants or simply a nice walk?”
Anything else would simply end in problems…
