As a teacher for True Cross, she wasn't required to just teach, she also was sent of missions closer to Santa Prospera. This didn't bother her at all really, the demon population could use a little ass kicking every now and then. Not to mention they seemed to be slightly pissed at the death of one of their beloved demon kings. Not that she blamed them, the exorcists would be pissed if something happened to one of their higher ups. Of course they were protected unlike a foolish blood thirsty demon king.
Anyways, she had a mission this evening, it was just exorcising some ghoul demons that had been possessing humans in the bamboo district. A couple of students and stumbled onto them. They had gotten a few of them but ghouls traveled in packs. Where there was one there was a whole lot more. It shouldn't be too difficult, especially if two students had been successful at eliminating a small group of them. Even though it seemed easy enough she wasn't going to go in without back up, no she would bring in someone she could trust to help her watch her back as she did her thing. That person was Jamie, another psychology buff. He was one of her best friends, and though he didn't seem that strong, he was one of the few she trusted to help her watch her back.
Emma leaned against a brick wall leading to an alley way as she waited for Jamie. She picked at some of the dog hair on her coat, Blaire needed groomed, her winter coat was coming in and shedding already. Well that was golden retrievers for ya. Her knives were hidden away, though she still had a good number of them. Though she couldn't actually use them unless a ghoul showed up without possessing a human being. No she was going to use her chants, that was what she was best at after all. She was running them through her head as she continued to pick at the dog hair.

um, he'd prefer not to spend his night exorcising.
but jamie wouldn't mention that to true cross. given that they knew his other work came before anything on the front-lines it seemed a little awkward - maybe he said he didn't want to spend the night doing this but it was better than condescending the vatican. besides, even if the supernatural didn't come first to jamie being in-practise was something necessary. and in this case he kept in the holiest of shape by, um, getting rid of a ghoul problems. and the obvious plus of getting to keep grace!
there wasn't many grounds for keeping a magical seal and he wasn't sure if "she's my backup if i'm not married by thirty-five we made a pact" counted.
besides, he was working on this with emma and, when jamie thought about it, there were probably few other exorcists that could really make this sort of thing tolerable. n-not that there was anything wrong with the other exorcists around santa prospera and it wasn't like he'd raise a fuss if set with them. so maybe tolerable wasn't the right word but rather it was just the whole process was so… boring. which was another thing he wouldn't be saying - to the other exorcists, though. they obviously didn't share his sentiment.
however, jamie's greeting was still fairly enthusiastic when he saw emma. more than likely linked to the coffee he had with him thougric take-away cup was handled fairly delicately as the blonde approached, a glance around before turning back and basically beaming, "emma! good to see you." as if only realising the cheer wasn't appropriate he possibly attempted to dispose of it, opting for fairly brusque questions, "right. right. ghouls? somewhere around here?”
there was a quick smile - warm even if hinting at a little exasperation - before jamie made what was possibly another attempt to get more serious about this. attempt meaning it seemed more a vaguely half-hearted search through his pockets with only one hand given the coffee he was holding. jamie seemed definitely cautious about something as he took a look around the streets he did. it wasn't as if the distract seemed safe usually but it seemed something worrying was on the fake blonde's mind.
or something else. his hesitation was pretty temporary as he gave in, shoving the coffee forward towards emma, “could you hold this for a sec?” anxiety based on the classic where-do-i-put-my-coffee-while-i-look-for-my-exorcism-shit dilemma he gave it a fairly careful shake of the cup and added, “please?”

Emma heard the footsteps before she heard the voice of her friend. She looked up to grin at the fake blonde, he was probably jealous that she was a natural blonde while he had to dye his. He sounded enthusiastic, though he always did, but she knew that this wasn't his favorite thing ever, he was probably busy too. Out of her options though she had to drag Jamie away, her other option was Marlowe, and well he was always busy with paperwork and things, Sonja made sure of that it seemed. She probably could go with others but she preferred going with Jamie or Marlowe, whether they liked it or not.
"Ah, ello cher." She gave her friend a smile before nodding her head. "Yup, back in deh alley." She pointed behind her with her thumb. He was trying to take the enthusiasm down a notch, but it didn't bother her at all. She didn't think it would stay down long anyways.
Em watched him as he dug around in his pockets, probably searching for his seal for Gracie, er Grace, Em just had a habit of calling her Gracie. She had to admit that the selkie demon was pretty damn cute.It looked like it was rather challenging since he was trying to be alert and using only one hand. She swore that coffee was his life blood, slightly surprised that he didn't bleed coffee. Em liked her coffee, but Jamie really liked his coffee. It was something they could bond over.
"Course." She took the cup from him so he could look for his gear. Her knives weren't out yet, but she wasn't planning on using that many of them in the first place. Her axe was also at home, she was so close to gaining that second meister but she wasn't willing to take the axe out with her just yet. "Now I want coffee. We should get some afta this." She nodded, being so used to coffee the caffeine wouldn't keep her up, and it would be nice after doing some chanting.

jamie didn't seem so happy at her announcement at how close the ghouls were and there was no real effort to hide his sagging shoulders. he guessed it was best to get the whole thing over and done with? giving a brief, quick nod in response he unnecessarily repeated, “the alley, okay.” insert age old complaint of why did it have to be alleys that these things were in.
she took the coffee with not complaint and that seemed to get him to brighten up as he furthered his search, “thanks, i need the free hands for finding things i always forget where…” his trailing off was fairly manageable - not easy to guess what a tamer would be looking for. quickly the seal was taken out fairly triumphantly and his keys.
it wouldn't have been smart to summon grace right there. there wasn't much help she could provide flopped outside an alleyway.
emma's first comment on coffee had a sudden reaction and a panicked one at that. it was as if he'd forgotten she was was there and there was a nervous, almost territorial dart of his eyes back to the cup she was holding for him. and then to her. his sudden jumpiness settled fairly quickly though - maybe because he properly replayed her words in his head and she didn't want his coffee. good.
“definitely!” his tone was quite and abrupt like he'd suddenly realised his silence must have been a little discerning, “i thought you said… on second thoughts, nevermind.” there was an attempt at light laughter but it wasn't long before jamie was frantic again, “i would have got you one if i'd known you wanted some! i didn't really think it was something you'd want for a mission, though, emma.” that being said he looked eagerly back at the coffee, “that being said, can i have it back?”
“but, um, like i said, definitely yes to the getting coffee afterwards,” he brightened up definitely at the thought of getting caffeine already, “you did offer that, right? because whoa i could so use some coffee later.” his eyes still seemed trained on his current cup but his eyes jerked up to her face again, and then briefly to the alleyway behind. keys still being played with in his hand - the summoning paper still at the ready - and made a fairly nervous motion, “you first, emma?”
“n-not throwing you to the dogs, or ghouls, but grace isn't good at… sudden entrances, yeah.”
