Not having a home to go to was problematic, intimidating and daunting for those who aren’t the strongest of hearts. For many, home is a form of closure, a place of solitude; where anxiety and tension can be properly relieved or abridged. But for Kitsuna, home is simply a place, somewhere she knew she was going to stay for a while. Home to her could be anything from a massive mansion, to a small ventilation duct in an immense library crowded with hundreds of people almost daily; where silence was pretty much natural, and cognitive thinking was at its finest. You see, Kitsuna’s been in this library for almost a month now. Her usual occupations have been lacking their usual funds and now she’s out and about the world, predominantly hidden amongst the shadows of this very library. Yet, she wasn’t complaining, it was actually rather nice here. It lacked warmth beyond any doubt, but it was cozy in some ways and strangely convenient.
If Kitsuna loves anything more than trickery or those coveted bird’s eggs she loved to devour, it was books. And here, in this massive library was hundreds and thousands of them, lined against massive oak-wood colored cases, comfortable chaise lounge of many colors littered the soft lightly checkered carpet where dozens of content and absorbed human’s flipped through pages in unmitigated peace. She couldn’t blame them, she too found herself loving the mysterious alluring nature of books. Near the far end of the library, Kitsuna lay under a vent, just barely outside its maw. Her three tails idly swaying about as her blood-red eyes skimmed a small book on the floor, well now, this is quite the read I have here, she thought to herself as her paw held the book down and she skimmed through it gracefully, I’d never imagine Dante to be such an intelligent young man, visiting hell must be quite the experience. she concluded as she lifted her paw and then used the end of her ebony wet nose to close it.
Behind her, stuck in the aperture were stacks of romance novels and fantasy reads; some more obvious than others and some less heard of than the rest; The Flame and the Flower, Outlander, Born in Ice, Once and Always, the list went on as the books idly waited for someone to move them, only to have Kitsuna stand up and trot over to them, knocking one down and then dragged it over in her bite to flip it over and then went to read through it. Every night, she would sneak out this very pipe and search the darkness of the library for something else to read. She’s read plenty too, more than she can count, but her being here has definitely affected the library and its maintainers. Everyday, books werevanishing, the librarians began to wonder if someone was sneaking in and stealing them; no one could guess a small fox-demon was skittering about snatching their tomes straight from the shelves. Sometimes the books would randomly appear again, and then something else would vanish in its place.
Security camera’s showed no sign of fowl play, Kitsuna made sure she stayed out of their sight the entire time, so no one could understand what was happening. To Kitsuna’s humor, some people were starting to think the place was haunted, where Kitsuna’s memory brought up humorous quotes from Pamela Stephenson, Most people who went about saying a ghost had poked them with a brolly would be locked up somewhere. which would earn a small fox-like snicker from Kitsuna.
By now the fox was busy cleaning her white fur, which was becoming dusty and dingy thanks to the fowl air and filth that blew threw the air-conditioning device. She peered from the darkness of her hole at the many people who walked by, none curious enough to lean over and stare at the oddly ajar venting door that was lying face up on the carpet. She actually found it like this, and wondered if one of the technicians forgot to close it. Every once in a while, someone would dolly over; close it, not taking notice of the books or the albino, three-tailed fox sitting inside. Only to have Kitsuna knock it over soon after and watch as the human hunched their shoulder saunter off. Kitsuna loved how most of these humans lacked any form of real concentration. Her eyes shifted back down to the book, one of her tails looming over to tip a page forward and allow her to continue.
Life was great, now how could she make it better?

Another fantastic day in the library, Aalekh was chilling reading some books. Mostly he was reading some grimoires that drew a few funny looks from people around him. He didn’t look like the kid who into necromancy. If only they knew that he was actually an exorcist he would probably be drawing a few nicer looks but what the hell did he care. He was trying to figure out some demon thought patterns and how they functioned and the best way to defeat them. Demon anatomy and psychology interested him greatly one of his favorite things to read about and discuss.
His actual reason for being here was some kind of book thief of the demon variety. A multitude of books were being stolen and they suspected a demon was behind it all so the best reinforcement they could get was a first year tamer who couldn’t care less. What a bunch of babies it was obviously nothing more than a demon. It wasn’t rocket science or anything. The general populace knew about the existence of demons and how they could be anywhere and yet they still ran away like it was some unknown force. It wasn’t like ghosts existed and most demons didn’t even look all that bad.
He approached the area of interest after getting up and scratching the back of his lazily. He had no intention of killing anything today but it was his duty to tell whatever that was to bug off and go some other places as long as whatever it was left the area he would be totally fine and just go back to reading his grimoires and studying up on demons, he was after all a first year and needed all the experience he could get and books seemed to supply the most amount of information with long boring dragged out speeches.
He walked to the other end of the library observing everything that was going on around him; it didn’t seem very paranormal at all. A few books were missing but other than that the area seemed fine, completely and totally fine. They really were a bunch of babies. What demon would want to steal books, it’s not like they needed to do any reading up on history half of them had been alive for over a freaking century, who cared but it was his mission now and he needed to get things squared away.
He approached his target destination to find absolutely nothing wrong there were people reading at their own leisure, it didn’t seem like any disturbances at all. He needed to evaluate this place further. He could sense something around here. There had to be a convenient hiding place for this so called demon. He noticed a slightly ajar vent door, it seemed perfect for a small demon, a small thieving one at that. He decided to check it out as he walked over to the vent door and tipped it slightly to the side with his foot before peering inside.
To his surprise there was a demon and a Kitsune at that, it was a tiny white fox nestled into the area. ”Look Kitsune you’re gonna have to get out of there, do you have a human form, it will make it a lot less awkward for me since I don’t want to be talking to a fox this whole time.”

She had heard rumors about a haunting in this library, possibly something to do with a demon. The last tidbit of information really sparked her curiosity. Though stealing books wasn't anything special, the sight Iblis got from seeing mortals worrying over a haunting was quite amusing to her. Iblis knew that she definitely had to go see this book thief for herself and personally congratulate him or her for entertaining the demon king.
She searched the library far and wide for any signs of demon activity, but no luck. Feeling defeated and extremely frustrated, she plopped down on one of the chairs in the library. If she couldn't find the demon, perhaps she should read some of the famous works mortals were always raving about; like the one about the boy wizard or the one about the girl fighting to the death for other's' amusement. Or better yet, Vera could burn down the library for making such false claims of a haunting. Yes, the latter sounds nice to her! Why should such a pitiful building stay after trying to trick one of the demon kings? The answer was it shouldn't!
Before she could go through with it, Iblis spotted something strange. From her point of view, it looked like a man talking to nothing. She could not see anyone or anything worth talking to in his area, unless... In an instant her anger and frustration was gone as quickly as it came. Iblis moved towards him, and as she came closer she could see a faint shape of alabaster white fur. Was that the demon she was looking for? When she got there, Iblis nudged the man out of the way without apologizing. There she saw it. It was a little fox, and no ordinary fox at that. Rather, it was a demon!
"So you're the one causing the library trouble, eh?" the demon king asked her subordinate. "I'm actually extremely pleased to see that! How long have you been at this? From the rumors, it seems to be awhile. I find it very amusing that you haven't been caught yet! Well, up until now at least, but hey - it's still quite a record! " Iblis acclaimed.

Well now, this was new. For a second, Kitsuna could have sworn she heard something approaching, but the Young-fox spirit was too busy skimming the book before her to really care, oh such luscious words; never has she heard such poetry. These writers were so talented, they could make something as simple as little symbols seem like they were a bright art, a collection of emotions and metaphors giving images to the imagination, unclouded and bursting with vividness.
It was absolutely beautiful.
However, the Kitsune was soon interrupted, and why? Well, it came first as a smell, where she froze for a moment. Her scarlet eyes hanging on the word “Mysterious,” in her book as she contemplated how ironic this was. This was definitely a mysterious smell indeed, but what it was exactly escaped her completely. It wasn’t long before footsteps were heard and she listened to something shuffle, it was the door to the vent! Her eyes didn’t lift from the book; however, she noticed a filter of light enter the aperture. The stout sound of a handsome young man appealed to her, and the Kitsune slowly raised her head from the book and eyed him.
At first, everything he was saying was going right over her head; she was too busy looking over this interesting man. His smell was familiar, it reminded her of the priestesses from home, but there was something else, something almost animalistic about it. Not exactly in him, but around him. The small fox blinked as she realized he was speaking to her, asking if she had a human form to transform in. her head tilted and devious grin played on her face as she stood, her hackles curving adorably. Taking her paw off the book and shook out her fur. Staring at him as her three tails took hold of a couple books and then set them beside her as she contemplated what to do.
Suddenly, the man would have felt a very invasive feeling, as if though someone was prodding at his very mind; some found it very uncomfortable to hear someone talking in your head, ‘So you’re evicting this poor homeless creature from her ab-… oh my!’ she muttered the last part to herself as she watched someone new either shove or simply shift herself in front of this man. Instantly, Kitsune’s olfactory senses went crazy, the scent she was getting was that of a demon; oh yes, definitely a demon. And what she could smell was an old and definitely powerful one. Still however, the Fox remained ever bubbly to this demon queen.
Causing trouble? Was it really all that bad, oh these humans and their overly sensitive outlook on practically everything? Who was that human poet, Henry David? “It is usually the imagination that is wounded first, rather than the heart; it being much more sensitive.” the quote ran through her head as she slowly stepped out the vent being careful not to catch attention from anyone else around the library. ‘I meant no harm to anyone around here; can a little fox simply read her books in peace? I promise to bring them back.” She spoke to the two as she sat on her hinh legs, turning into her human form didn’t sound all that nice right now.
Considering it lacked the agility she needed to make a quick escape if she needed to. That and a voice.
She looked the demon queen in the eyes and then to the exorcist and spoke to them both, “This is simply my little home, I haven’t caused any real trouble, have I?” she said it in a way as to clear herself, instead of actually asking a question. Of course, she hasn’t caused any troubleyet. She lifted a hind leg and began to scratch her neck, “Damn fleas…” she muttered. Now she was almost tempted in showing them was real chaos actually looked like (of course the demon queen has probably seen quite a lot herself.) Oh the things she could do to this library, they thought vanishing books was a problem? Oh they have no idea.

So the demon was quite comfy in her little cove right here ‘she picked up books with her three tails, Kit had 9 tails so that meant there was significant gap in age right here. Not surprising seeing the tininess of the fox, surprisingly the fur was snow white a trait commonly inherited by albinos. He vaguely recognized the species as well, his lessons ofKitsune with kit had really payed off. He felt a rather invasive voice worm its way into his mind, just fantastic, another telepathy user. Well hello there mrs…. Kitsune, I’m kinda here to evict you because the academy asked, I don’t want to but I have too.” He said back in an apologetic tone while communicating fluently using telepathy.. Suddenly a presence was felt and it briefly touched him.
The only though Aalekh could think of when the lady bumped into her was fuck. This was some crazy bullshit here. That single bump had just transferred a slight bit of energy from her and Slight only for her. He had the fucking privilege of running into a Demon Queen, which one was a mystery but no matter what he was royally fucked. He wasn’t terrified at all but instead nervous as hell. This was like defusing the bomb if he pushed the wrong button he could say goodbye to his puny mortal life. It was sad really, oh so sad.
”If I wasn’t here on request, I would have to take her out but seeing as there is now a Demon King among us I don’t think I’m too keen on doing that, anyways my name is Aalekh an exorcist.” Aalekh has to play this smooth and cool no way messing up would help him right now, it would just screw him over even more. He extended his hand out and rubbed the back of his head giving a small but nervous smile. He had to remember this was a time bomb, he didn’t want this library to disappear just yet, he needed to do some studying.
She talked to the both of them saying how this was her home and how she wasn’t doing anything wrong. ”Look I have plenty of demon friends it’s just I’m here on official business, look if you need a book I’ll just buy you some but you’re going to have to move out and cause mischief elsewhere.” Aalekh said out loud talking the fox instead of muttering his telepathic voice. It was true he had a bunch of demon friends but it wasn’t exactly easy to turn a blind eye on official business.
The woman didn’t even change into human form as she sat down on her hind legs and looked at the two. Aalekh gave a sigh as he got a chair from a nearby table and sat down. The temperature had raised considerably and the mood in the room was palpable because of that demon Queen, this was not his day at all, there was no way in hell he was coming back here.
”Here let’s just start from square one we’ll get this eviction squared away later. “As we all know my name is Aalekh, first year tamer what about you guys.” He said in a relaxed and calmer tone. IT would be easier to figure out how to treat things if he knew what Demon Queen he was dealing with here.

Was it really that easy for mortals to recognize her? Perhaps it was time to get a new host body if it was this one was already recognizable, although it would be quite difficult for her to find a host body able to withstand a demon king. "Now I have to find a new host. Do they know how hard it is to find one?" She mumbled to herself and let out a (literally) warm sigh of frustration afterwards.
She felt a billow of anger wash over her, like someone just dumped a gallon of gasoline on an open fire, with mortals in general being the catalyst in this case. Iblis hates many things, one of the things being found out and the other is the process of finding a host. Can't a demon king do anything on Assiah anymore? At this rate, she'll probably have to move back to Gehenna. It's just not any fun causing mischief if those lousy humans keep foiling her plan and figuring out her disguises.
The demon king should really try to remain calm at this point. There was no need to have even more humans figure out who she was. However, it's hard for her to calm down, though burning things down always helped slightly. Reconsidering the idea of burning down the library wasn't a bad one and she very well might do that at this point. That way those who know her secret would keep it a secret. Problem solved! Iblis thought smugly to herself.
She then heard a voice that snapped her out of her thinking. The demon king almost forgot that she was in the company of another demon and an exorcist. Ah, yes, the little fox that was giving the library a bit of trouble. "Bring them back? I don't see why you can't keep them. The library has thousands of books. Who cares if you take them?" Her pleasure in the kitsune had disappeared and was replaced with disdain. She expected a little more from the other demon. An exorcist was evicting her out of her home and all she could do was grovel and plead? What a pitiful demon, but then again what was there to expect from such a low ranking one?
Then there lies the question, should the kitsune leave or stay? Maybe the king should send her back to Gehenna if all the demon was going to do was to apologize to a human. However, it was amusing to see all the humans talk and over exaggerate about haunting. With those in mind, the demon king spoke to the exorcist, "Why shouldn't the kitsune stay? There is no harm in her being here. Did a fire come and burn everyone down while she was here? No." The exorcist, or should she say 'Aalekh', wanted to know who she was. There was no use in trying to hide the fact she was a demon king now so Iblis just replied with, "I am a king, what more is there to know? And by my orders, the kitsune should stay."

‘Well hello there mrs…. Kitsune, I’m kinda here to evict you because the academy asked, I don’t want to but I have too.’
Mrs.Kitsune? Well, she could have guessed from his young stature and look that he was actually younger than her, than again most humans were. Yet she was actually quite impressed with him, most people would be freaking out right about now. Something talking in your brain isn’t exactly normal, that and extremely uncomfortable. This would make the little Kitsune’s efforts in communication a little simpler. However, as she watched this young man, her sense of smell started to pick up odors from him, nothing horrible; he actually had a very pleasant smell, so did the Demon Queen who reminded her of a barbeque for some reason. But she could tell… He was nervous. Her eyes slowly tilted to the Demon Queen and she considered her the issue of that matter.
”If I wasn’t here on request, I would have to take her out but seeing as there is now a Demon King among us I don’t think I’m too keen on doing that, anyways my name is Aalekh an exorcist.”
Take her out? Kitsuna would have blushed, she’s been wanting a date for a while no-… wait take her out as in forcibly pick her up and remove her from the complex? That sort of take out? That’s quite unfair really, "Great, just great…" she suddenly heard the Demon Queen mutter, and Kitsuna made a fox-like chuckle. Why not shout her true identity for the entire world to hear? She would have, less the punishment be anything more than bare ass whipping. The Queen was visibly upset, and Kitsuna, with her caring little soul couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for her. She only wanted to live in the outside world it seemed, she stood and walked toward the queen and male, first snuggling her furry cheek almost feline-like against Demon Queens’s lower calf and then rotated to nudge Aalekh’s ankle affectionately.
"Bring them back? I don't see why you can't keep them. The library has thousands of books. Who cares if you take them?" So far she didn’t seem so bad, a little hotheaded, or volcanic even, but Kitsuna was none to talk- she had a temper herself. Kitsuna’s outlook on her so called ‘overseers’ seemed to lack any form of respect or admiration. This woman before her was simply another creature to her, powerful indeed but it warranted no ‘services or ideals’ that Kitsune should be ordered or forced into doing. ‘My Dear Demon Queen,’ Kitsuna started as she eyed her with a sly gaze, ‘I might be a master of mischief, but I shall never stoop as low as to steal something as passionately masterful as a book.’ She cleared to the demon queen, ‘Now a photo album of a handsome human might be different.’
”Look I have plenty of demon friends it’s just I’m here on official business, look if you need a book I’ll just buy you some but you’re going to have to move out and cause mischief elsewhere.”
Lovely, he seemed to appreciate demons, now that’s what Ktisuna called openness, if only more people were like this. Some of these exorcists were simply puppets in her eyes, most of the time they are exorcising and banished demons and some of them aren’t doing anything at all; she understood that some of her kind were a bit malevolent... She raised her brow at the thought of buying books, and then suddenly her eyes went bright as a particular word rushed through her like a wave of warm milk. Oh, that beautiful, intelligible, useful word; it described everything she adored in the world, everything.
Mischief…
This human called this mischief? He was really underestimating her wasn’t he? Oh, she loved these kinds of humans; they always make the best reactions to her mayhem.
”Here let’s just start from square one we’ll get this eviction squared away later. As we all know my name is Aalekh, first year tamer what about you guys.”
She smiled a coy smile again as the human asked her name, the Demon Queen remained silent to that; but Kitsuna’s tails were wagging wildly, the feelings inside her going crazy as she took everything in. She simply wanted to explode and do something erratic, wild and random, anything. But she contained it, watching them carefully. ‘My name is Kitsuna, blame my owners.’ She suddenly added the last part as if she was apologizing for something. "Why shouldn't the kitsune stay? There is no harm in her being here. Did a fire come and burn everyone down while she was here? No." Oh my, she was starting to like this woman and her lovely use of the word, ‘fire.’ She swore she could feel the temperature rising around her, she couldn’t tell if it was because the woman was just that hot or simply just that hot. "I am a king, what more is there to know? And by my orders, the kitsune should stay."
Kitsuna stared at Aalekh as she mentioned this, such an interesting exchange about to happen, with the right words it could explode into a problem or a conflict. Kitsuna was all for the preservation of peace, and she was definitely going to be pulling that. Kitsuna might have to make a distraction, she stared around the building, and then her eyes caught something…
That might just work…

It seemed that no matter where Aalekh went or what he did to avoid tension he was somehow a magnet for it. His brief bump and realization of who he was dealing with had somehow caused her anger to spike, this was a temperamental one making it all the more crucial to piss off. [colo=orange]”No its not fault on your own part I assure you as a tamer I am supposed to know these kinds of things.”
[/color] Aalekh said to her mutterings trying ever so slightly not to piss anyone off, he had taken an oddly formal tone no doubt a side effect of his “official business” it seemed that anything that was directed of him from a person of higher authority seemed to change his overall demeanor to polite and respectful that or his nervousness was messing with his mind. "Bring them back? I don't see why you can't keep them. The library has thousands of books. Who cares if you take them?" ”I feel you miss the point, not every book has a copy and if someone were just to steal books left and right they would soon run out of books and besides they paid for these books and you all know how stingy government run facilities are, they called True Cross West on a whim and the doubtfulness of the situation made them send a first year to investigate.” Aalekh said trying to elaborate on the circumstances, it was true these normal people were so stingy and always hounded you on the littlest things, it bugged the hell out of Aalekh too but hey he kept such significant tools of learning safe not to mention he liked reading and tearing apart a perfectly good book was borderline distasteful if not utterly disrespectful. Someone had managed to pour in enough creativity to write something to entertain others pretty noble. The demon queen wasn’t backing down at all she really wanted this Kitsune to stay; she was sticking up for her demon underlings in a sense. It wasn’t an all too familiar feeling for Aalekh, he hadn’t any friends before this transfer he had never stood up for people but this feeling struck him as familiar, like it was something he knew and was ingrained in those deep subconscious feelings. Everything in his mind was the product of a chemical reaction something he had learned years ago, it had stuck with him and this emotion revived that memory vividly. Humans didn’t have souls and were worthless unless controlled that was something he was told a long time ago a memory he had never really cared to remember but in this particular situation it came back and struck him funny with the next line the demon queen said. She was ordering him around like it was her right, she was a demon and he was an exorcist these feelings shouldn’t be there it was all war between them and even if he sided with demons he was in no way inclined to follow a demon Queen of all people. ”You do not have authority over me, I am by know way your underling and am not inclined to follow any of your orders and will do what I want of my own accord let’s just clear that out of the way and to clear something up I am currently here on behalf of the True Cross West and as a student I am an official exorcist and I regret to inform you that True Cross West would sad as it is like this Kitsune to removed and that is their final verdict.” Aalekh responded with cold and emotionless voice. There was no vehemence and no politeness to his tone it was an empty sentence devoid of feeling. This was an unusual thing for him but it seemed that one line had triggered a rather odd reaction from him and maybe it was the fact that she referred to herself as King and acted like her word was law. That was what True Cross did and that is why he didn’t trust them one bit. ”I meant no disrespect to you Kitsuna so please don’t take what I say to be offensive in any way, your name is actually pretty funny I have a Kitsune too she just happens to be named Kitsune, I call her kit though.” He whispered into the Kitsuna’s mind. He had no doubt come off as cold to the both of them but that wasn’t his intention, he was simply raining cold hard facts to them. He couldn’t handle this mood it was too tense. ”Well anyways uh like I said we should just forget about it for now, we don’t want it to get hostile, no harm done right?” Aalekh said giving them an apologetic grin. Damn it was getting rather warm in here and it was no doubt emanating from that woman, it was a bad idea to take that cold stance and every second it was getting even more stupid of him. Curse his ability to blurt the randomest shit that was totally out of character for him. Hopefully he had made up and it wouldn’t get to out of hand here.
